Jordan Government Graph

MEFMEF/Government Graph/Jordan

Method and Status Definitions

Structure from the Constitution of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (1952, as amended; English text at constituteproject.org), with the article named on each node. Officeholders checked on October 6, 2026, each with dated sources.

This graph models Jordan as institutions, positions and typed relationships (appoints, confirms, elects, commands, chairs, oversees, parallel to). The centre is the King: under Articles 28 to 40 he appoints and dismisses the Prime Minister and ministers, appoints the whole Senate, and since 2016 names the Crown Prince, the army chief, the intelligence director and the heads of the Judicial Council and Constitutional Court without a minister's countersignature. Elected power sits in the House of Representatives, which can withdraw confidence from the government.

Sources are official sites (Royal Hashemite Court, ministries, Senate, courts, Central Bank), the state news agency Petra (labeled as state media), and outlets of record. Each holder source carries a short quote naming the person in the post, checked against the live page. Verified means two independent publishers agree. Single source means one. Acting, vacant and unconfirmed are shown as such rather than filled with a guess; unconfirmed holders are not shown.

Recent turnover: Majdi Al Harasis replaced Yousef Huneiti as army chief on September 2, 2026; Hazem Majali took over the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission in April 2026; the Royal Jordanian Air Force changed commander in January 2026; the cabinet was reshuffled in July and August 2026; the Central Bank governor was reappointed in September 2026.

Parallel structures include the Muslim Brotherhood, banned in April 2025, and its former political arm, renamed the Umma Party in 2026, as well as the Jerusalem Awqaf under Hashemite custodianship and US forces based in Jordan. Governorates are shown as one grouped node.

Not yet covered: governors, full House committee roster, service chiefs below the air force and navy, and historical holders. Corrections: meforum.org/contact.
