Method and Status Definitions

Structure from the Basic Statute of the State (Royal Decree 6/2021), cited by article on each node, and from the royal decrees that create or staff each body. Officeholders researched on October 6, 2026, each with dated sources.

This graph models the Sultanate of Oman as institutions, positions and typed relationships (appoints, elects, commands, controls, oversees, parallel to). Oman is a hereditary monarchy in which the Sultan is head of state, Prime Minister and Supreme Commander and chairs the Supreme Judicial Council, so the Sultan sits at the centre of the wheel. Citizens elect only the Shura Council; the State Council is appointed.

Sources are limited to official government, parliament and court sites, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' reports of royal decrees, the English text of Official Gazette legislation, and outlets of record (Oman Observer, Times of Oman, Muscat Daily, Reuters). Each officeholder source carries a short quotation naming the person in the post, checked against the page on October 4, 2026. Verified means two independent source families (official and press) agree. Single source means one family. Acting, vacant and unconfirmed are shown as such rather than filled with a guess; posts without a current qualifying source are left out.

Recent turnover: Royal Decree 17/2026 of January 12, 2026 recomposed the Council of Ministers, made the Crown Prince Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and brought in new ministers for education, economy, health, commerce, labour, information and other portfolios. On September 13, 2026 the Public Prosecutor was retitled Attorney General and a new Attorney General was appointed.

Parallel power structures include the Royal Family Council, which the Basic Statute gives a role in regency and succession, the Al Said family's hold on the deputy premierships and key governorships, and the Muscat-based Houthi negotiating delegation that Oman hosts as a mediation channel. Foreign partners with basing or mediation ties (United States, United Kingdom, Iran, GCC) appear as external nodes.
