Method and Status Definitions

Structure from the 1982 Constitution as amended (English text at constituteproject.org) and founding statutes, named on each node by article. Officeholders checked against live sources on October 6, 2026.

This graph models the Republic of Türkiye as institutions, positions and typed relationships (appoints, elects, commands, oversees, controls, sponsors, parallel to). Since the 2017 constitutional referendum took effect in July 2018, Türkiye has an executive presidency: there is no prime minister, the President appoints and dismisses the Vice President and every minister, governs by presidential decree, appoints most senior judges and officials, and may chair a political party. The centre of the wheel is therefore the President of the Republic.

Every officeholder shown carries at least one source: an official government, parliament, court, agency or company site; Anadolu Agency, the state news agency, labeled as such; or a named outlet. Each source records a short verbatim passage naming the person in the post, and that passage was checked on the page. Verified means two source families agree (official site, state news agency, independent outlet). Single source means one family only, most often the Presidency's cabinet page. Unconfirmed posts are not shown.

Turnover in 2026: new Ministers of Justice and Interior (11 February), a new national police chief (29 April), a new chair of the Supreme Election Council (6 May), the Court of Accounts president re-elected (24 June), a new Air Force commander from the August Supreme Military Council (30 August), and a new head of the state oil company TPAO (17 January).

Parallel and party structures are modelled because they shape decisions outside the formal chain: the ruling AK Party, chaired by the President; its nationalist ally the MHP; the pro-Kurdish DEM Party and the PKK disarmament process run through the intelligence service and an Assembly commission; the main opposition CHP, whose leadership is contested in court and is therefore not shown; and Baykar, the drone maker chaired by the President's son-in-law.

Not yet covered: individual provincial governors, deputy ministers, Assembly committee membership, regional military commands, and historical holders. Data is refreshed by script; the build date is in the graph summary.
